But unlike the Corvette, it didn’t sell, was too expensive, and now it’s dead. Also, being a Dodge product, it probably wouldn’t survive a trip around the block. But man was it a great looking car.

In no universe is the Viper cooler than the Corvette. Anywhere. Ever. Corvette for life.

So many things they could have done to make it better and more accessible.

*Corvette for mid-life

Doesn’t even sound good. A Darwinian tool for population control, like a Mustang GT

Nah.

I guess that if it had a hellcat v8 it would’ve been good.
Why not also throw in a pentastar option so that it sells itself!

I think the Viper’s problem is less it’s price and more the fact that it was manual only. The lack of a automatic made it a even more niche option. Just look at how many auto 911s and Corvettes are sold

No need for a reminder, Vipers are the business.

The first Viper is still cooler than the latest Corvette.
Come at me.

Also could have used forced induction, but the vette has that.

That was a big part of it but it really was price. That badge could never justify the price to anyone but a dedicated MOPAR enthusiast.

Had Chrysler aimed to undercut the ‘Vette with the Viper when it first came out, I think we’d still be seeing them rolling around today, if not selling like hotcakes.
But nope - Hellcat.

It’s really going to be a matter of how the design ages. It was a great looking car at the time, but will it still be a great looking car in 20 years? 30 years? I’m not certain it will. It may end up like the C4 Corvette. I just feel like it missed something it needed for it to look timeless.

I own a Corvette, and I agree with you.
From a sales standpoint, the Viper had two critical flaws: 1). No auto option for pussies, and 2). A V10 that sounds like shit thanks to too much displacement, not enough revs, and an unequal firing order.
But if I had the money, I’d definitely take a last-gen Viper over any Corvette.

Lol! But no I’m not.

I really dislike the Viper.
The last generation was really cool though, but otherwise, I’ll take my mid-life crisis machine any day.
